Carroll White REMC Energy Assistance Program
Carroll White REMC works with local community action agencies each year during the heating & cooling seasons. The program is designed to help people maintain their electric service during the peak heating & cooling seasons.
The program benefits those households with low incomes who are in need of emergency funds to pay heating and electric bills. Eligible applicants must apply at their local Community Action agency.
To apply applicants must provide
- Social Security numbers for all household members.
- Proof of gross total household income for the previous 12 months.
- Current household utility bill.
- If renting, a copy of the lease.

Carroll White REMC is aware of the financial hardships many families might be facing. There are several resources available to help you pay your electric bill. Carroll White REMC works with local agencies as well as township trustees to obtain assistance for our members who are having difficulties paying their electric bills.
For residential members, we would like you to know that we cannot terminate residential electric service from December 1 through March 15 for any member who is eligible for and has applied for assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) under IC 4-4-33.
Residential members of Carroll White REMC may not have electric service terminated on any day for which the National Weather Service has forecast, within the proceeding 48 hours, a heat index of at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit for the member’s service area, for any member who is eligible for and has applied for LIHEAP assistance under IC 4-4-33 during the calendar year.
Indiana Energy Assistance Program
The Indiana Energy Assistance Program (EAP) provides low-income households financial assistance to maintain utility services. Applicants may apply online, in-person at local agency, by mail or by calling 2-1-1.
